  • VB Wednesday, Nov 26 at 8:51 AM FLAG COMMENT I was in the second grade in Baltimore when the news came to our school. I still remember my teacher looking very upset. They let all of us out of school early without an explanation; they told us our parents would explain why. On the way home, a teenager who crossed our path told us that the President had been shot. I was so young and naive--who would shoot the President I thought?--that I didn't believe him. When we got home and found out that our favorite cartoons were not on the TV we realized something big was going on. My mother could barely speak, explaining to us between sobs. It didn't really sink in for me until we saw the funeral procession on TV. The murders of MLK and RFK followed less than five years later. I thought the world was falling apart, but by then I was old enough to realize that there are a lot of disturbed people out there and they can do crazy things, like shoot a President. ... MORE >

  • Marge Saturday, Nov 22 at 1:52 PM FLAG COMMENT I was just ten years old when this tragedy was announced to the world. President Kennedy was a shining symbol of hope in a time of turmoil and changing times. He inspired everyone with his wit, humor, and brilliant skill as a diplomat in times of war and peace with a level of charisma that even won the admiration of other world leaders and their people. President John F. Kennedy has left us all with a legacy of promise that in American and indeed the world shall never be forget. ... MORE >
  • VK Saturday, Nov 22 at 1:00 PM FLAG COMMENT In 1963, at this time, I was 14 years old. I was a sophomore in high school in Carteret New Jersey. I was in Geography class in Mr. Esposito's class room. It was a beautiful autumn day. The leaves were falling from the trees in the usual colors of red and gold. Kennedy was shot and pronounced dead in Dallas, Texas that day. I went home, turned on the TV (a Munsen) and saw Walter Chronkite announce the same devastating news. ... MORE >
