Rukinga Wildlife Sanctuary
The Rukinga Wildlife Sanctuary is home to over 50 species of large mammal, including elephants, lions, buffalo, cheetah, and zebra.
Think the real estate market is frightening? Try opening your front door and coming face-to-face with a lion.
Individuals who find that image appealing may be interested in the 74,490 acres of African wilderness being sold by a Tiburon, Calif. man. The land, part of the Rukinga Wildlife Sanctuary in southeastern Kenya, is home to more than 300 bird species, 100 reptile species and 50 species of mammals including elephants, lions, buffalo, cheetah, and giraffe.
The owner, who is being represented anonymously by Coldwell Banker Real Estate, is offering to sell a 30 percent interest in the site for $4 million, or a 93 percent interest for $10 million.
Both options include access to the entire sanctuary, the opportunity to build a private home on the land, use of two private airstrips, security provided by members of the surrounding communities, and "participation in current and future planned income generating activities on the Rukinga Sanctuary."
