Christian Bookstore Owner Faces Unholy Allegation

A different kind of confession

Police on Tuesday announced the arrest of a Christian bookstore owner on various counts of sexual battery after a female employee reported being accosted by him at his Morgan Hill store.

Officers on Saturday responded to a call at around 5:45 p.m. from a 23-year-old Gilroy woman working at E-ternal Treasures, a bookstore specializing in Christian literature and merchandise at 433 Vineyard Town Center, according to the Morgan Hill Police Department.

The victim reportedly made the call immediately after she said she was inappropriately touched by Morgan Hill resident Richard Dresser, 55, her boss and the bookstore's owner.

Police reported that Dresser complied with a subsequent request by investigators to appear in person at the police department for questioning,  whereupon he confessed to the alleged sexual misconduct against his employee.

Dresser was arrested on several counts of sexual misconduct, including touching intimate parts against a restrained person, indecent exposure, recording video for pleasure and secretly videotaping a person in violation of an expectation of privacy, according to police.

Anyone able to provide information regarding this case of sexual misconduct or other incidences possibly connected to the suspect is  encouraged to contact Morgan Hill police Detective Beilmann at 408-779-2101. Information may also be conveyed anonymously by calling 408-947-7867.
