You wouldn't think that pig wrangler would be in a cop's job description.
But for deputies in the bedroom community of Santa Clarita on Wednesday, it was.
Two pigs got loose from their home near Cherry Street and Peachland Avenue in Newhall, more than 30 miles north of downtown Los Angeles.
It took the muscle of deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Santa Clarita station to save them. Neighbors called deputies reporting pigs running loose in the streets.
"As you consider commenting on this story online or on social media, we ask you to remember that law enforcement officials are here to serve and protect the public and uphold a tradition of service, a job that requires thick skin and a sense of humor," Deputy Josh Dubin quipped.
It took about 90 minutes for deputies to find out where the pigs lived and returned them safely to their pens.
The pigs were unharmed.
