Hartford Fox Attack Caught on Tape

An apparent rabid fox went on the attack outside a city apartment building

A fox went on the attack on a city street in Hartford and security camera on the building caught whole thing.

The animal, which appeared to be rabid, charged at three people outside the Park Place Apartments early Sunday morning.

Chris Bigliardieri, David Rametta and his fiance were walking into their building when the animal seemed to come out of nowhere.

"Right over here, we saw a fox and as soon as he saw us, he came running at us," Bigliardieri said.

At first, the fox approached the trio and then it became aggressive.

"He actually grabbed my pants a couple times and when I tried getting away from him, he just kept coming at me," Bigliardieri said.

Realizing he could get bitten, he kicked the animal but the fox wasn't done.

Rametta thought fast and threw a bottle at the animal.

"He was irate and went right for my fiance and luckily I had the bottle on me and I threw it at him," Rametta said.

That scared off the fox.

The animal was certainly out of its element.

Officials from The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and Hartford Animal Control said foxes are rare in the city.

"They said they never heard of a fox in this area of Harford, ever," Bigliardieri said.

The fox hasn't been caught. Experts say if you see it, stay away and call authorities.
