Knife Throwing Does the Trick During Robbery

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A south Sacramento market owner threw knives and scared away an armed robber, police said.
Manuel Pineda, owner of La Flor De Guerrero at 2782 Fruitridge Road, said he fought back against the robber Monday night because he believed the man didn't really intend to use the gun he was carrying.
A police report said a tall man entered the store at about 9:40 p.m. and demanded money.
Pineda's wife ran into the back of the family business to call police.
Meanwhile, Pineda said he went behind the butcher counter of the store, careful to keep the robber's attention.
Pineda said he then threw at least two razor-sharp knives at the robber, who turned and ran out of the store. The robber was not hit by the flying knives.
The robber was last seen running east on Fruitridge Road, police said.
The robber was described as 6 feet 5 inches tall. He wore a green camouflage jacket.
