The 'Flying Tomato' wants to be grounded. Gold Medal snowboarder Shaun White said he's tired of his nickname which was given to him years ago.

"Whoever was on the mic had some dead air to fill -- and the name (The Flying Tomato) came out of his mouth," said White.

    His new nickname?  The Animal.

"Someone said I looked like the Animal on the drum set from the Muppet Show," said White.  "That's kind of rad.  I'm feeling it.  Call me Shaun 'The Animal' White."

Nicknames aside, the 23-year-old is approaching the Vancouver Olympics with his usual Southern California laid-back approach.

"I'm just having fun,"  White said during a training break in Aspen, Colorado.  "I don't like to over think it too much.  I like to stay in the moment."

Since exploding onto the scene at the 2006 Torino Games, White has become the face of snowboarding and is the favorite to win another gold medal in Vancouver.  Despite Team USA's injury problems (Danny Davis and Kevin Pierce will not compete in Vancouver), White remains upbeat.

"The whole team is looking forward to competing," he said.
