A Pennsylvania jewelry store owner sas the man charged with breaking into his shop tried to cash in on a reward for help solving the case.
Emile Pratt Jr. has been arrested by Sharon, Pa., police and charged with the Aug. 31 burglary of Gold Mind Jewelers, where owner Mark Multari said 100 rings worth about $10,000 were stolen. Someone, who police now believe was Pratt, broke in and smashed the glassewelry case. The alarm failed, according to the Sharon Herald.
"They knew exactly where they were going," Multari told WYTV. "They went right to our higher end estate pieces, grabbed the cases and left. Everything else in the store was intact. I mean, they walked past laptops, they walked past a case of watches, other things like that."
A day after Multari offered the unspecified reward, Pratt called and "said he would help in any way," Multari told the paper. He claimed to have heard the glass breaking.
Police charged Pratt after tracing some of the 100 items stolen in the burglary to stores and pawn shops where Pratt allegedly sold them.
