Help Tutor Citizenship Program & Distribute Food at Senior Center in San Jose

Brown Bag Program is a weekly food distribution program at John XXIII Senior Center in downtown San Jose. In partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, over 200 low-income seniors receive a box of groceries every Wednesday. Seniors are also assisted at the center with computer literacy training and citizenship classes

Every Wednesday from 9 - 11 a.m., help unload and bag food delivered bySecond Harvest Food Bank for very low-income seniors.


Citizenship Program: Help tutor small groups of seniors in the questions and answers required to pass the citizenship test. Monday - Thursday from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. or 1 - 3 p.m.


BROWN BAG PROGRAMS: Hosted by Catholic Charities and Second Harvest Food Bank. Help prepare and distribute bags of groceries to seniors. NOTE: Volunteers over 55 who live in Santa Clara County are eligible to belong to RSVP and receive some benefits. Please ask the volunteer coordinator for details.

Days/Times: Wednesday mornings from 8:45 - 11 a.m.
Language Spoken: English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese
Minimum age for volunteers accompanied by parent or guardian: 13
