San Francisco Bay would not exist as the beautiful natural treasure it is today without Save The Bay. This year, we celebrate 50 years of halting massive bayfill and dumping, restoring wetlands and engaging the community to save the Bay. With the celebration of this milestone, Save The Bay would like to invite you out for a day of weeding followed by lunch. The mouth of San Francisquito Creek is a unique wetland habitat that provides a home for many native species, including shorebirds and anadramous fish such as Steelhead Salmon. The site is part of both the City of Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve and Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge. Since 2001, we have been working with the help of schools, community groups, non-profit organizations, and corporations to revegetate salt marsh habitat through planting native wetland plants and removing non-native invasive species. Tee shirts will be provided so please list your shirt size in the comments when you register.
