Storyteller, Civic Center Library.

Add joy and adventure to the lives of older adults by becoming a storyteller! The Civic Center Library is in need of volunteers to read to groups of seniors who are frail and/or diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Individuals should be comfortable working with ailing older adults, reading to groups of twenty or more, and leading brief discussions. Four to five volunteers needed. Small time commitment -- once per week, approximately one hour, at Senior Access, 70 Skyview Terrace, San Rafael. Storyteller will receive orientation from the staff of Senior Access, which co-sponsors the read-aloud program with the Civic Center Library. Volunteers pick what to read. Interactions will include such things as reviewing a memory kit – including photos, old ads, etc. Times are Tuesday a.m., Thursday p.m., and Friday a.m. Current TB test required; test is provided free of charge by the County.
