Kris Sanchez anchors weekend morning newscasts and reports for NBC11

Kris Sanchez anchors the weekend editions of Today in the Bay, NBC Bay Area’s morning news program.

Prior to joining the NBC Bay Area family, Kris anchored newscasts in El Paso, Texas, Grand Junction, Colorado, Fresno and Los Angeles.

Kris also worked for Channel One news, a current events network for middle and high school students across the nation. As a correspondent, she covered the 2000 presidential campaign and traveled to Central America for the handover of the Panama Canal and to cover humanitarian work. Kris was honored by the National Association of Hispanic Journalists for her feature, “Cesar Chavez, A Legacy of Hope.”

Kris graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with degrees in Journalism and Spanish language. As a journalist, Kris takes pleasure in being a life-long learner. She especially enjoys telling the stories of the diverse Bay Area community.

Off camera, Kris makes a lot of cupcakes and blanket forts with her two rowdy little girls. She and her husband enjoy cooking together and spending time with family, friends and their bulldog Mexi.
