Michelle Roberts joined NBC Bay Area as a General Assignment Reporter in June 2014. You can see her reports on the stations 5, 6 and 11PM news casts.

Prior to NBC Bay Area, Michelle spent two years at WBZ in Boston where she wore a number of hats. She was a traffic reporter, general assignment reporter, and served as a regular fill-in anchor for the stations morning newscast.

She also covered some of Boston biggest stories including the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013 and the trial of notorious mobster Whitey Bulger in South Boston.

Before heading to Boston, she spent some time in Fresno where she was an anchor and reporter at NBC-affiliate KSEE.

Michelle began her broadcast career at KGWN in Cheyenne, Wyoming as an anchor and reporter. A “one-woman band,” she videotaped, wrote, and edited her own stories – even ran the teleprompter with her foot – all while enduring the windy Cheyenne winters.

She graduated from University of Colorado at Boulder with a major in Media Studies and a minor in Gender and Women’s Studies. While at CU, she interned at a variety of public relations and advertising firms before discovering her passion for broadcast news.

As a native of Chicago she misses her hometown– but is excited to be part of the NBC Bay Area news team and explore all that the Bay Area has to offer. In her spare time, she has a passion for traveling and learning about new cultures – having traveled to Bangkok and Ghana as a women’s advocate and teacher under the volunteer organization Cross Cultural Solutions. She has also spent time in Thailand, Kenya, and Spain.
