A big thank you to everyone who came out this weekend and helped make our Bay Area Proud food drive so successful.
As of late Saturday we collected 11,500 bags in one day alone. A total of 18,000 bags have been donated since Wednesday.

NBC Bay Area is proud to partner with Safeway grocery stores and Bay Area food banks this Saturday for a one day food drive.
NBC Bay Area staff will fan out across the Bay Area. You may find a familiar face at your neighborhood Safeway asking you to dig a little deeper during your weekend shopping.
We hope to collect thousands of pounds of much-needed food. We've done the work for you. All you have to do is buy a grocery bag we've filled for $10 at check out. The bags include items such as rice, stuffing, canned vegetables and cranberry sauce.
“In addition to providing on-air promotion, we are organizing hundreds of volunteers throughout the Bay Area to encourage shoppers to donate,” said Lance Lew, NBC Bay Area Community Marketing Director. “It is easy to pick up a pre-packed $10 grocery bag that is filled with the foods local families need most.
Our goal is to increase awareness about local hunger while also giving community members a convenient way to help out at a critical time.
We will be at 100 stores. Once we gather what you give, we will distribute it the food banks in time for Thanksgiving.
This is Bay Area Proud event. Volunteers include Kiwanis, San Jose Junior League, Branham High School and hundreds of others.
