San Francisco's famous Alamo Square opens to the public Wednesday after a $5 million makeover, but the park isn't the only thing in the neighborhood that's making headlines. One of the iconic painted ladies, which sits across the street from Alamo Square, has taken a big step into the future. The original painted lady - built in 1892 - is now supplying its own power. Solar panels have been added to the roof allowing the historic home to generate 90 percent of its own electricity. The homeowner is hoping the historic status of the home will inspire others to go green. Solar company Sunrun had the daunting task of installing solar panels on the steep roof of the house.
