Pricey Mixer Blends, Chops and Cooks Food

Don t call it a mixer, says Kenwood s PR representative. The Kenwood Kitchen Chef ($1,999 at Williams Sonoma) is a precision kitchen solution. The Kenwood Kitchen Chef is a mixer/blender/food processor, but the most unusual thing about it is the heating element. It can cook food. Throw some butter, chopped onion and garlic into the bowl, set it to stir and brown. Add in some floured beef cuts, liquid, turn up the heat, set the machine to stir every few minutes and eventually you have stew. The device also includes a steamer basket and all the extras you d expect: dough hook, cook book, etc. Scott McGrew tests it out.
