Video Captures Shark in North Bay

Beach-goers will not be able to hit the water at Stinson Beach in the North Bay for the next few days. The National Park Service has limited water access at the beach until Thursday after a great white shark was sighted off the coast.

There is raw video of what is believed to be the same shark near Bolinas at the top of this artical.

A lifeguard told the Marin Independent Journal the shark was between 8 and 10 feet long. It was seen Sunday afternoon 200 to 300 yards offshore.

The NPS says people will be allowed to go to Stinson Beach between now and Thursday and can wade into the water, but will not be allowed to go into deeper water.

On Monday, people at Stinson mostly stayed in the shallow area. The Bay Area is experiencing a mini-heatwave and that brought lots of extra folks to the coast to try to cool off.

If there are no more shark sightings, people will be allowed to go back into deep water Friday.
