USF to Take Over Historic SF Building

University buys old Folger Coffee Building.

The University of San Francisco is looking to the past as it plans for the future.

The school has purchased the Folger Coffee Building at 101 Howard Street. USF paid $36.5 million for one of the few buildings to survive the Great Quake of 1906.

The building will become a downtown hub for the university, allowing it to be closer to the business and civic organizations it already works with.

USF was founded in 1855 on the corner of Fourth and Market streets, close to the new hub.
