Achieve: Supporting Our Schools

Within the Bay Area, we often hear some very troubling stories from the communities we serve. It should come as no surprise, as one in four Bay Area families are living in poverty. With the school year quickly approaching, we know many families are panicking about how to afford to send their child to school this year. The hidden costs of transportation, extracurriculars and supplies quickly adds up.
But we also know that there are incredible organizations out there working to change this narrative. Local nonprofit United Way Bay Area is committed to providing financial education, access to basic resources and youth development programs. Family Giving Tree, a fellow nonprofit, is spearheading efforts to ensure that Bay Area youth have access to the school supplies they need in order to perform to their highest abilities. The less time they are worried about making ends meet, the more time they can focus on their education.
That's why we are proud to partner with United Way Bay Area and Family Giving Tree on our joint initiative Achieve: Supporting Our Schools. Through this exciting project, we are gathering donations of school supplies, as well as hosting a daylong opportunity to fill backpacks with necessary school supplies before we send them to Boys and Girls Clubs, United Way Sparkpoint Centers and local schools. We have hand written notes of encouragement to place inside these backpacks, as an extra way of showing support to the youth around us.
Please join us for one, or both! Come for an hour, or stay the whole day - even the smallest of time or the tiniest of donation will help us to create and amplify more uplifting stories of our community.
WHEN: July 29, 2017, 7am-1pm
WHERE: 394 W Caribbean Dr, Sunnyvale
