    The celebration in San Francisco's streets following the Giants' World Series victory started off peaceful but quickly turned raucous and violent, as revelers vandalized police cars and businesses and pelted officers with bottles. Mark Matthews reports. (Published Thursday, Oct 30, 2014)


    Catholic Charities in partnership with the City of San Jose, the Silicon Valley Education Foundation and First 5 will host a festive and interactive Lunar New Year Party for families. Over 300 people are expected to attend.

    Age Restrictions: 14 or older


    Type of Work: Volunteers are needed in the areas of guest registration, crowd control,
    food serving, clean up after the event, hosts for the traditional games we will be providing,
    hosts for the traditional food demonstrations, a photographer for the Family Portrait Station
    and other stations such as the prize redeeming. Every family will be receiving tokens to play the traditional games and will be able to redeem for prizes later. Vietnamese and Chinese speaking volunteers a plus but not a requirement.

    Registration Required: One time volunteer application to be completed on site.
