Splashdown 45: 45th Anniversary of Apollo 11

The USS Hornet Museum is hosting a celebration of the 45th Anniversary of the epic Apollo 11 lunar landing mission. Splashdown 45 commemorates the flawless recovery of the three astronauts, moon rocks and command module by the aircraft carrier USS Hornet CVS-12. There will be an assortment of special artifacts displayed, including a moon rock, a flown Apollo spacecraft, and a real mobile quarantine facility used to isolate astronauts when they return from the Moon. Guests will have a chance to meet Apollo 11 Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, one of the first two humans to walk on the Moon.
