Summit League Presents “A Day in the Garden with Friends,” to Benefit Cancer CAREpoint

One of Santa Clara Valley’s oldest and most prestigious women’s philanthropic organizations, Summit League, is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2017 with a renewed effort to help the community through its fundraising efforts.
In recognition of this special milestone year, Summit League will present “A Day in the Garden with Friends,” a June 2 luncheon, in the beautiful garden of a private home in Los Gatos.  Summit League has chosen this event to benefit Cancer CAREpoint, a local nonprofit that provides cancer patients and their families with support services at no charge.  Additional information about the luncheon and Summit League can be found at Summit-League.org.  Tickets are $150 each and will go on sale April 1, 2017.
The event will feature guest speaker Terry Curtin, Director of Global Marketing for DreamWorks Animation, whose talk will reflect the theme “Dream, Dare, Do”, which will highlight her personal and professional journey. Ms. Curtin is a veteran film marketing executive who has held prominent posts at Universal, Disney, Relativity Media, Twentieth Century Fox, MGM and Revolution Studios. She serves on the Board of the John Wayne Cancer Society Auxiliary.  
Laura Garcia Cannon of NBC Bay Area will be the event Emcee. Laura anchors weekday mornings, Today in the Bay. She is a multiple Emmy Award winning journalist and honored with the Associated Press Reporter of the year award, as well as Best Daytime Newscast Award in the Bay Area by the Bay Area Women in Radio and Television.  She is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalist and serves on the boards of St. Mary’s, the American Cancer Society, and the Catholic Professional Business Club.
Established in 1957, Summit League is a non-profit organization consisting of 50 Active Members and over 60 Sustaining Members who are committed to raising funds in the areas of education, health, welfare and the arts enhancing the lives of our Silicon Valley community. “Summit League is pleased to continue our 60 year fundraising legacy by presenting “A Day in the Garden with Friends” on June 2nd, said Tricia Niederauer, President of Summit League. “Our efforts will help support Cancer CAREpoint in their valuable programs and services to those affected by cancer and their families.”
