The 39th Annual Nikkei Matsuri in San Jose Japantown

The 39th Annual San Jose Japanese American Cultural Festival Nikkei Matsuri is on Sunday, May 1, 2016. Join them as the Japanese American community comes together to celebrate Japanese heritage and culture. The festival promises to be vibrant, dynamic, and full of fun! The ever popular Yu Ai Kai Nihonmachi Run will begin at 9am. Taiko drummers from San Jose Taiko will bring the beat at 9:15 am where the Opening ceremony will commence on the outdoor stage in front of the San Jose Buddhist Betsuin on 5th Street. Live entertainment is to be expected on two stages all throughout the day. Check out the traditional art exhibits and demonstrations such as Koto music by Marimo-Kai, Judo demonstraton by San Jose Buddhist Judo Club, Tsugaru Shamisen by Kyle Abbott of Bachido, and more! 

All are welcome to this event to enjoy the food, culture, and fun for all ages. All festivities will take place on Jackson Street between Fourth and Sixth Street.  This event is open and free for all.
