Ever wonder how to avoid catching a co-worker's cold even if there's no way to get away from them while they're sick?

When I started working on @Work and reporting more news about unemployment and job losses, I connected with a lot of smart people at various state agencies.

And I found out, there are plenty of programs out there that will help you get free training, and even connect you to an employer.

Start with the CA Employment Development Department. Click here to get directly to the job page. It's a little cluttered but sit down with a cup of tea and some patience and you will find a lot of resources.

Also, the One Stop Career Centers have real, live people to help you navigate the programs and resources if you don't want to go it alone.

Seriously, if you want to get training to become a pilot, pet groomer, graphic designer, receptionist...there are literally hundreds of training programs all over the state to help you get started.

Let us know how it works out!
