San Francisco 49ers General Manager Scot McGloughan was on local sports talk radio station KNBR on Thursday and he refused to close the door on the possibility of bringing back Terrell Owens, who was cut by the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday.
KNBR: You know what I want to do first, Scot, is ask a non-Kurt Warner question. And that’s about Terrell Owens. He has been released by the Cowboys. And, it’s out there. Are the 49ers going to be interested in contacting Terrell Owens?
McCloughan: I’ll just say this: We knew there was a chance he might be released at some point. We’ve done all of the research we need to do. Again, we put a value on every prospect, free agency or the draft. It’s not just what he does on the field. It’s what he does off the field. How he fits in the locker room, how he fits Coach Singletary’s vision. So, there’s a value for him. Again, we don’t close any doors. But there’s a value for some players that’s higher than others.
