Emmy Award-winning Meteorologist Craig Herrera brings experience and a passion for weather to NBC Bay Area.

He loves meeting people in the Bay Area who casually ask, "How’s the weather?"

Born and raised in Pojoaque, a small town just a few miles north of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Craig graduated from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication. He then completed his Meteorology studies at Mississippi State University.

After graduation, he began his broadcasting career in the Broadcasting Division of The United States Olympic Committee. After a few years, Craig was hired as the Weather Producer in Denver, Colorado. While there, his weather team was named “most accurate” by a Denver magazine. His career then brought him to California where he worked in Fresno. In 2003, Craig was awarded with the American Meteorological Society’s Broadcast Seal of Approval. Craig was part of the 2006 Emmy-Awarding Winning Morning team at NBC Bay Area.

Craig has two kids who each have four feet, fur and a tail! Sasha is a Lhasa Apso and Kaia is a Rhodesian Ridgeback.  When he is not at the station, Craig loves to run and bike and he has participated in two AIDS/LifeCycle Rides.  The AIDS/LifeCycle rides are from San Francisco to Los Angeles (545 miles) in seven days and the millions of dollars raised help support people living with HIV and AIDS. Craig also helped raise money to fight cancer with the Lance Armstrong Foundation in the San Jose LiveStrong (65-mile bicycle ride) Challenge. Craig is also very involved with the Humane Society Silicon Valley and several Bay Area Animal rescues.
