Moore Creek Open Space Trail Building

Updated 8:47 PM PDT, Tue, Jul 28, 2009

Thanks to all of you who turned out last Saturday for our Moore Creek Trail Building project in Napa.

Volunteers for Outdoor California (V-O-Cal.org), Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District hosted this volunteer trail building event on May 16 – 17.

Together volunteers built 850 feet of trail, including 180 feet where they had to do a bucket brigade, which took a lot more work than usual.  They removed 1,200 feet of French Broom on an 8-foot wide trail, created a corridor through the brush along a 1,200-foot side slope, and created drain dips to improve water drainage. Not bad for a couple days of work!

This was a great opportunity to give back to the community, meet new people and enjoy the outdoors while constructing one of the first trails in the beautiful open space.
