Margaret Cho Launches #12DaysofRage Campaign for Rape Survivors

Comedian Margaret Cho is leading a social media campaign for rape survivors to speak out.

The San Francisco native launched the hashtag #12DaysofRage on Sunday to encourage public dialogue on Twitter.

"Just because your rape wasn't reported doesn't mean it didn't happen," she tweeted on Tuesday. "Even if it's a secret u can still be angry. Let it out."

Cho is sharing her personal stories of sexual abuse, including multiple rapes, on video on her blog each day.

The campaign culminates on Nov. 13, when Cho plans to release a song and video called "(I Want to) Kill My Rapist."

Cho told talk show host Wendy Williams that she was repeatedly raped by a family member beginning at age five and continuing until she was 12.

"Sexual abuse leads to self abuse," she said. "You have to acknowledge that it happened."
