Reports: Next “True Detective” To Be Filmed in Big Sur

The next edition of HBO's hit "True Detective" could be coming to California.

The mystery and the mayhem are coming to California.

A "significant amount" of the next season of "True Detective," the hit HBO show that saw Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey while away the hours on the backroads of Louisiana, will likely be filmed in and around Big Sur, according to reports, as the show takes a decidedly Californian twist.

Industry insider publication The Wrap scored the details, revealing that series creator Nic Pizzolatto is aiming to tell a story with Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch as the two cops, and Vince Vaughn as the "central antagonist."

Also in the mix are "Mad Men" star Elisabeth Moss -- as well as many facets of everyday California life.

The story is that a corrupt city manager dies after a transit deal goes sour. Think the Bell scandal and high-speed rail... or maybe that's too real.

All the show is missing is medical cannabis and a glass of Cabernet.
