Winter storms means ski resorts across the state can start opening up again.

Mammoth Mountain ski resort opened Monday, 10 days before it was scheduled to.

A powerful storm hit the eastern Sierra-Nevada mountains over the weekend dumping up to 18 inches of snow.

By late Sunday night, Mamoth Mountain resort operators made the decision to open the slopes for skiing and riding.

A series of storms also rolled through North Lake Tahoe over the weekend, leaving several inches of snow in the upper elevations.

Winter weather continued Monday and was expected to continue through Tuesday.
