10/22: Jazz it Up

SFJAZZ

The San Francisco Jazz Festival, now in its 27th year, runs through Nov. 21.

AFRO-CUBAN JAZZ DELIGHT: Tonight's performers at the San Francisco Jazz Festival serve up a dose of Latin beats along with hip-hop rhythm and ear-pleasing vocals. The delightful notes combine in a perfect sound for the multi-cultural Bay Area music scene. Catch Omar Sosa and John Santos at the Herbst Theatre. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

TO TELL THE TRUTH: The 8th San Francisco Documentary Film Festival is the place to be if you're in the truth business. Head over to the Roxie Cinema tonight and catch a take on Burning Man from its humble beginnings, a feature about a family farming for their lives and an in-depth look at one man who worked the car market like no other. The shows start at 7 p.m.

GET WICKED: There's a story behind those witches in the Wizard of Oz. Broadway original musical Wicked tells the tale of two best friends who became opposites on the scale of good and evil. Take in the beauty of the historic Orpheum Theatre as you learn the history of the witches of Oz. The show starts at 8 p.m. The Orpheum is at 1192 Market Street.
