10/25: Lights and Sushi

Lights and Karrin Allyson

Canadian signer Valerie Poxleitner prefers to go by the name Lights. When you can sing like her you can call yourself whatever you like. The singer, songwriter got her big break by performing in Old Navy's zany commercials of all things, but tonight she will put her looks to the side to perform at Slim's in San Francisco at 8 p.m.

What goes better with sushi than jazz? Okay maybe miso soup of seaweed salad but in terms of entertainment, not much goes better than a smooth jazz singer. Grammy-nominated singer Karrin Allyson will perform at Yoshi's San Francisco in the Fillmore district, a neighborhood known for knowing a thing or two about good jazz music. The singer will perform songs from her new album "Imagina" and the performance will start at 8 p.m.
