49ers Encourage Fans to Arrive Early for Monday Night Football

Team offering half off concession food for fans who arrive early.

With a return to Monday Night Football the San Francisco 49ers are enticing the team's fans to show up early to Candlestick Park with perks.

The team is offering a 50 percent discount on stadium concession food and soft drinks for fans who show up at least 90 minutes before kickoff.

The 49ers are worried about opening the nationally televised game Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers at 5:30 p.m. in front of a half empty stadium.

candlestick Park is notorious for how difficult it is to get in and out of on game days and the team is warning that those conditions will be that much worse Monday evening as fans try to get to the game during normal rush hour commute.

Jim Mercurio, the stadium's vice president of stadium operations and security, says fans should carpool or use public transportation to the game and fans should plan to arrive as early as possible.

The grand plaza of the stadium will open at 2:30 p.m. Monday.
