4/21: Speed Dating British Style

Camera Obscure, British speed dating and a film festival

In Latin, Camera Obscura means the darkened chamber, in pop culture it is synonymous with the Scottish indie pop band of course. The group takes the stage at one of our favorite places to see a show, the Great American Music Hall, 859 Ofarrell St. in San Francisco, at 8 p.m.

Lonely on the eve of Earth Day? That's just a crime. Why not try your hand at Speed Dating, British style? Okay, we're not quite sure what the British do different than us but hopefully it doesn't involve crooked teeth. Some how we doubt it though. Tonight at the Bubble Lounge, 714 Montgomery St. in San Francisco, at 8, eligible bachelors and bachelorettes will go on several mini dates and the ladies can arrive 30 minutes early for a complimentary makeover. Sweet.

The longest running film festival in the country, the 53rd annual San Francisco International Film Festival,  resumes tonight at the Sundance Cinemas Kabuki, 1881 Post St. in San Francisco,  at 7.
