PASADENA, CA - MARCH 04: Singer Leela James poses in the press room at the 20th Annual Soul Train Music Awards at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on March 4, 2006 in Pasadena, California. (Photo by Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images)

She has been compared to the Snickers eating diva Aretha Franklin but others say her sound is more like Steve Wonder meeting Marvin Gaye. Whatever analogy you want to use, one thing is for sure: Leela James can sing. The singer songwriter will perform tonight at Yoshi's San Francisco, 1330 Fillmore St. at 8 p.m.

For a comic, just to make on "Last Comic Standing" is an honor. It gives them the opportunity to try their jokes out on a larger audience and the more practice -- and the more reaction -- they get, the better a comic theoretical becomes. Two "Last Comic Standing" alums, Jacob Sirof and Taylor Williamson, have had plenty of practice perfecting their routines over the years. Tonight they will try their jokes out at The Improv, 62 S. Second St. in San Jose at 8 p.m. The best part about tonight's show is that you can get free tickets. Simply shoot an email to justin@improv.com and ask for free tickets.
