Drop to the Beats

HOMEGROWN JAMS : Hip hop, reggae, funk and soul are on the playlist tonight starting for MIXTAPE Wednesdays at 10 p.m. at the Skylark in San Francisco, where you can jam to the beats put on by a couple of resident rockers. It's free if you're on the list -- just send these guys and email at mixtapewed@gmail.com before 11 p.m. and ask to be on the list. If you don't make the cutoff, you'll pay $5 to get in.

SPICY SALSA: Learn how to dance the salsa in Union Square in San Francisco. Lessons start at 6 p.m., and live music and salsa dancing will begin 20 minutes later. Admission is free!

SMOOTH KRALL: Be sure to check out smooth vocalist and pianist Diana Krall at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $59.50, $75, $89 or $99, depending on where you want to sit.
