Cub Convention: Learn How to Pick Up Your Very Own Cougar

Training the next Mr. Demi Moore

Cougars and cubs are all the rage in the land of hookups. But usually the attention is focused on the older woman -- the cougar -- on the prowl for a younger man.

But  now the younger partner in the May-December relationship is getting some special attention.

Last year, Rich Gosse organized a convention in the Bay Area in honor of older women attracted to younger men. Now, he's focusing on the youngsters -- who he says are the less-heralded half of the romantic pair.

The National Cub Convention, scheduled for Jan. 30 in Millbrae, is sponsored by Gosse's Society of Single Professionals, which defines a "cougar" as an older woman who is attracted to younger men, or "cubs."

Gosse held the National Cougar Convention in Palo Alto in August. He  says it brought about 1,000 people to a hotel that could only fit 400 people into its venue. Grosse is hoping to get a similarly large crowd to this month's event, but doesn't think it will match the size of the Cougar Convention.

Gosse said that while there has been a lot of talk about "cougars" in popular culture, "cubs are  sort of an oversight, so we want them to be the focus this time."

The "cubs," legally single men between 21 and 40 years old, will compete for the title of Cutest Cub in America. All the women at the event will each get one vote, and the man receiving the most votes will receive prizes that include a International Cougar Cruise to either the Mexican Riviera or the Bahamas, and the DVD  "Spread," which features famous cub Ashton Kutcher and is about a younger man on the prowl with many older women.
