The turn of the clock tonight is also the turn of the calendar page to October. And if the calendar of events is any indication, it is going to be a laugh fest.
October is shaping up to be a very funny month with a slew of comedy events hitting the Bay Area in coming weeks.
At the top of the list is the first-ever Out Loud Comedy & Arts Festival, a gathering of LGBT comics from around the country. Notable performers include Sandra Bernhard, Lady Bunny, and Miss Coco Peru. Local celebs like Heklina and Ronn Vigh also have starring roles.
The festival will also feature craft booths, with local crafters peddling hilarious wares.
Towards the end of the month, Peaches Christ is returning to the Bridge Theater for a showing of "All About Evil," a horror-comedy shot here in San Francisco. The film stars Natasha Lyonne as a murderous movie theater owners.
And of course, San Francisco will continue to enjoy a rotation of comedy heavyweights throughout the month. The delightful Kristen Schaal is coming to Cobb's Club on the 9th, Mike Birbiglia's coming on the 19th, and looking way into the future, Margaret Cho is coming in December. Win or lose, that will be at the conclusion of Cho's stint on ABC's Dancing With the Stars which is sure to give Cho some new material.
That's in addition to regular local events, like Funny Tuesdays every night at Harvey's, Q Comedy Showcase every first Monday at Martuni's, and open mics every Tuesday at Brainwash. Ha.
