Modest Mouse Set to Rock the Fox

Indie rock group to play Fox Theatre

Leave it to a mouse to do a fox's job. The Oakland Fox Theatre will be graced by an indie rock legend just days after it opens.

The alternarock monsters that are Modest Mouse will rock the new stage of the historic Fox Theater in Oakland on Feb. 22. What better way to welcome back the Fox than with a mouse?

The band will play a 12-date American tour, and Oakland will be the first stop on the trip.

Former Grandaddy guitarist Jim Fairchild will join the mousketers for the tour to replace former guitarist Johnny Marr, who left the band to become a member of the Cribs.

Mimicking Birds will open for the band. The group is on Modest Mouse front man Isaac Brock's label. Tickets went on sale Thursday.
