SJ Airport Offers Free Pass to Non-Passengers

Got plans this weekend?  If you want to get a rare free pass to see the new and improved Mineta San Jose Airport -- sans airline ticket -- you need to take action right now.

Today is the last day to register in order to get through security on Saturday or Sunday.  You will get a day and time option for your tour when you log on to the airport Website.

SJC is ready for its close-up to show off the $1.3 billion renovation project that is ahead of time and under budget.

Airport officials were able to get special clearance with TSA in order to give everyone the chance to see the billion dollar transformation of both Terminals A and B.

Once inside, you will be able to walk the length of the new terminals and stop at any of the restaurants or shops you like.

There is also a lot of great art to take in.

The new terminal will be in full service for paying travelers a week from today.

The grand opening also means the final end of Terminal C.  The last flights out of there are scheduled next Tuesday.  If you are taking the red eye to Atlanta or coming home through Salt Lake City June 29, you will be the last folks to take the slow walk on a tarmac to and from your airplane.

Starting a week from today, they will be setting up the wrecking ball.

Lori Preuitt remembers being on hand for the Terminal A opening as an intern. Then KNTV-anchor Maggie Scura made a big deal about finally not having to walk on the tarmac for some flights during the ceremony.
