The San Francisco Symphony is obviously thinking about the future – it shows in their dedication to inspiring and educating a new generation. Symphonix is an organization committed to expanding the audience of symphony goers in San Francisco.
While the hoopla of opening night continued, it seemed the most pressing thing on everyone’s mind was the importance of the institution in our community.
The Symphonix group hosts four or five events annually for young professionals, as well as discounted pre and post parties for San Francisco Symphony performances, including the annual opening gala and the Black & White Ball.
In addition to the annual events, Kathryn Pellegrini Inglin, president of Symphonix board, is premiering winemaker dinners with musicians and after hours modern deejay interpretations of classical music in the second-floor lounge at Davies Symphony Hall.
Kelly Grimes joined Symphonix in 2003 and met both her boyfriend and her best friend through her involvement. Kelly says it is a combination of the supportive staff at the San Francisco Symphony, the diverse and dynamic Symphonix membership and the fantastic parties that inspire her commitment.
Besides attending various soirees and paying an $85 annual membership fee, Symphonix members purchase tickets to at least three performances each season. A background in music education is not required; rather, opportunities to learn about the music are offered.
A recent one-on-one-style talk, inspired by Bravo TV’s Inside the Actors Studio, brought the group together with San Francisco Symphony musicians and programming staff. Other membership benefits include discounted performance tickets and a discount at the San Francisco Symphony Store. All Symphonix funds raised are for San Francisco Symphony’s education programs.
Symphonix brings together people in the San Francisco Bay Area who share a budding interest in music and in sustaining one of the world’s greatest symphony orchestras.
