You can't keep a good Santa down too long. Especially one who knows how to crack a good grown up joke or two.
Just days after losing a job he had for 20 years, John Toomey has landed on his feet about a block from his old job.
Toomey, better known as "Santa John," was fired from his job as Kris Kringle at Macy's Union Square because of a joke he told that didn't sit well with some guests. The irony is, Toomey has been telling the joke for 20 years.
But Lefty O'Doul's, an establishment that appreciates a good naughty or nice joke, has hired the jolly old St. Nick to play himself at an annual fire department toy drive.
He will be back on the job Fridayat the bar starting at 5 p.m.
