Slumber Party at the Academy

California Academy of Sciences

Talk about your all nighters. This one sounds both awesome and educational.

The California Academy of Sciences is opening its door this Friday at 6 p.m. to children six and older for something they call "Penguins + Pajamas."  They have activities planned through Saturday morning, including a few hours shut eye.

Here's what you get for your $119 ticket ($99 for members):

  • An overnight stay in African Hall or Steinhart Aquarium
  • Rainforests of the World exhibit until 8:00pm
  • Planetarium showing
  • Penguin Presentations and Q&A with a biologist
  • Late night snack and continental breakfast
  • Parting gift

This is not an overnight daycare. Parents are supposed to accompany the kids.  The list of things to bring includes a sleeping bag and pillow.  It looks like you will sleeping on the floor, but you are welcome to bring a blow up pad if you want.

If you can't swing it tomorrow night, the academy is also offering the overnight tour on July 16 and August 13.
