New Music Video of Slain Rapper The Jacka Emerges

The Jacka and Freeway perform 2013 song "Dunya"

A music video featuring slain Bay Area rapper The Jacka has been released this week.

Philadelphia rapper and frequent collaborative partner Freeway dropped a video for "Dunya," a song the two recorded together for their 2013 album Highway Robbery.

The Jacka, born Dominic Newton and later changed to Shaheed Akbar, was shot dead in East Oakland on February 2. He was 37-years-old.

Oakland Police have not announced any leads in solving The Jacka's murder nor does there appear to be an obvious motive. The department and Crime Stoppers are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of his killer.

Freeway and The Jacka had a shared connection in the Muslim faith. On "Dunya," Freeway raps, "Got with Jacka 'cause he pray like I pray." The word dunya itself means world and temporary life in Arabic.

"Dunya" and the accompanying album Highway Robbery are available on iTunes.
