What would the holiday season be without Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol?" The Christmas classic is being performed in Palo Alto at the Cubberley Theatre.

If comedy is more your thing and you happen to think you are funny, how about taking the mic at a laundromat and making a few people laugh? The Brainwash Cafe & Laundromat in San Francisco will host an open mic comedy night with Tony Sparks.

The fun starts tonight at 7 p.m. at 1122 Folsom St. in San Francisco.

You could also check out the musical inklings of Taj Mahal. The famed African-American folk singer brings his troubadour to Yoshi's in Oakland. The show starts at 8 p.m. at 510 Embarcadero W in Oakland.
