Young Soulstress Takes Over SF Stage

Adele to play sold out Warfield show

She may only be 19 but she has no problem selling out the Warfield. The four time Grammy Award nominated singer Adele will play a sold out show at the Warfield Thursday night.

The British folk singer burst on to the seen last year even before she released an album. She was given the BRIT Awards Critcs' Choice, which is given to the best artist yet to release an album.

She drew praise when she played late night television shows in England, such as the Jools Holland show, and Saturday Night Live. When she did finally release an album it debuted at number 19 on the British charts and has sold more than 1.2 million copies around the world.

Her self described "heartbroken soul" music draws from artists such as Jill Scott, Etta James, Billy Bragg, the late great Jeff Buckley and The Cure.

The youngster enjoys her music and has no idea what she will do if all the attention she is getting at a young age comes to a quick end.

"I don't know what's going to happen if my music career goes wrong," she told Goldenvoice, her shows promoter. "I haven't had a proper job yet."

The show will start at 8 p.m. at the Warfield in San Francisco. While the show is sold out tickets are still available from Stubhub. For more information on Adele or the show visit Goldenvoice's Web site.
