For more than fifty years, Town & Country Village has served Palo Alto and neighboring residents with shopping and dining. T&C has not been known as a “destination spot,” however with its recent renovations and additions like RUTI BOUTIQUE, which opened in November, T&C has become much more appealing.
Ruti Zisser is passionate about clothing, but not just any old garb. She features European-styled clothing lines from Israel. Ruti is from Israel and, missing her native land, she started importing Israel’s cutting-edge fashion about four years ago. What began as a group of very loyal fashion forward women attending trunk shows grew to a database of over 4,000 shoppers. The lines she brought over to sell to her fashion-starved clientele, like Alembika, Maya Negri, and Sharon Brunsher, would sell out in moments, literally. The demand for her lines grew and Ruti decided to expand and open up a boutique. T&C, with its renovations, was the perfect match.
At first glance the clothing is cold, shapeless, and rather uneventful. The palette of grays, blacks & army greens have zero hanger appeal, you have to give the clothing a chance to warm up to you. One you do, you'll find that Israeli fashion is surprisingly quite elegant. Pants, sweaters, tops, dresses, all with fluid non-constricting movement, are a best seller for women up to sizes 16. This boutique is really about discovering uncommon style. It is a sophisticated woman who wears Israeli fashion.
This was my first introduction into Israeli Fashion and I am thrilled to find out about it. But really don’t take my word – go fall in love with it yourself. By the way, Ruti will be expanding her stores to San Francisco in the near future.
