Good Taste: Chick-Fil-A Protest Food

Psycho Donuts invents "the Gay Bar"

With its padded walls and servers in naughty nurse uniforms, Psycho Donuts has never been thought of as a bastion of political correctness. But today, the South Bay sweet shop unleashes a new product called the Gay Bar, a donut meant as a sweet protest to the well-publicized same-sex marriage support of national fast food chain Chick-fil-A.

The Gay Bar features colorful toppings of Fruit Loops cereal and rainbow sprinkles on a raised bar donut. It now shares case space with such unconventional sinkers as Feng Shui (green tea with chocolate icing), Michael Jackson (chocolate with powdered sugar), and donut "fries."

Prominent Bay Area voices, including San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, have spoken up to denounce Chick-fil-A. "Closest #ChickFilA to San Francisco is 40 miles away & I strongly recommend that they not try to come any closer," tweeted Lee last week.

Score the Gay Bar at both locations of Psycho Donuts, the original shop in Campbell and its newer counterpart in San Jose.
