An expansion of the family-owned Haight Street Market was approved Thursday afternoon during the San Francisco Planning Commission meeting.

The market will take over the existing adjacent Massawa Eritrean restaurant space.

The project's sponsor stated that Massawa was going out of business, and although the Planning Department said four people from the restaurant are opposed to the shutter, none of them appeared at the meeting to testify.
