San Francisco Lines Up to Take the Happy Out of Meals

A day after Santa Clara County took the happy out of the meal, San Francisco is got in line to ban fast-food restaurants from handing out toys.

San Francisco's city attorney was asked to draft legislation making it illegal for microwave burger serving joints from handing out shiny toys for kids with the food.

The thought is that toys attract kids to unhealthy foods.

Santa Clara County supervisors voted Tuesday to approve a ban of restaurants from giving away toys and other freebies with high-calorie meals, after months of debates.

Supervisor Eric Mar, who asked the city attorney to draft the bill, said he is modeling the move after not only Santa Clara County but countries such as Span and England, who have similar bans, the San Francisco Examiner reported.
